The Lazer Blazer

For Noisebridge's3rd birthday, Molly and I made matching LED-enabled garments. I helped her wire up her LED Evening gown, while I decided to try my hand at animated clothing.

I got 150 blue LEDs from Jameco, and wired them up using spare cat-5 cable. An Arduino and a TI TLC-5952 made for a simple control circuit. The result was awesome. On the back, an animated Atari logo chased itself. On the lapel, a string of LEDs "breathed" like a sleeping Mac laptop.

SF Whiteboards

Have you ever looked at a street sign and wished you could change it?

Our urban world is awash in letters and words. Building marquees, advertisements, municipal signs, and countless other sources of text make up the fabric of everyday living. Aside from the occasional lost cat flyer, why can't each of us contribute to this 'discussion', as it were? Why must outside environments be read-only?

Perhaps we will see a future where more of our world is editable.

Code Cards (Christmas 2011)

The problem:

The Solution: CodeCards

Materials used: Blank cards, Brother electric typewriter.
Created by hand, with many thanks to Molly for her inspiration (and the punchline).
